so i did my olympic distance triathlon yesterday and here is how i did.
im happy with the swim time, by bike was average to slow, and the run was an abomination…
but that all boils down to my complete lack of training leading up to the event. i didn’t run at all for like 3 weeks and only road my bike two or three times.
i still had a fantastic time, and i can’t wait for my next triathlon which is on june 3rd, which also happens to be the day after my birthday!
Or so said the 18-20 year old female that asked me to teach her how to swim because she had an interview the next day at the local water park. While it might be mean to say, but i hope she doesn’t get the gig, or if she does i hope she doesn’t need to save anyone while she’s on watch.
Ok, maybe that was a little harsh. she knew how to swim but was worried about the distance she was going to have to swim. I gave her a few pointers and asked her to let me see how she swam, but she was so worried about well everything…
In other news, I got all my CLIF stuff in

yes that is a lot of CLIF bars and i plan on eating all of them, don’t tell CLIF =] i got their protein bar and their normal bars in peanut butter and chocolate chip flavor and there both very tasty. though i don’t recommend eating the protein bar while doing exercise as it’s a bit heavy on the stomach, so save them for before or after your workout.
and my next triathlon is on the 29th super excited and ready to take the new bike out for an event to really see what i can do.
its a felt b16 and shes a beaut.

and this thing is awesome!!!
took it for a spin today and wouldn’t you know, i’m about 2mph faster. i think its because my wallet is so much lighter.
watching things like this motivate me to no end and make me wish race day was tomorrow, or go out and train.
so after a hectic week after the mean green tri prepping for my friends wedding, and the pool being closed for 3 days last week, i am now back on my normal training scheduled!
went swimming today and did 800 yrds, 1100 yrds total.
and in other fantastic news i got chosen to be a Cliff Ambassador!!!
oh and ill work on getting my race report up asap i promise.
Played 570 times.Bob and Dan have their annual chat with Dallas Maverick Dirk Nowitzki who discusses what it’s like to win the NBA Championship and answers the question, “Are you engaged?”
sunday is the first triathlon of the season. went swimming today to make sure i didnt forget how to swim, and easily swam 450yds! the swim in the tri is only 400yrd.
i also just moved, so i have been scoping out some bike paths and lets just say im either going to die or be awesome in the hills!
race report will be up sometime on monday.
so i went swimming today, and after doing about 500yrds i decided i wanted to learn how to do flip turns.
so i spent about 15-20 minutes just flipping in front of the wall to get used to it, then set off doing some laps. did 200yrds with flip turns. now they arnt pretty but you got to start somewhere.
Moroni 10:4-5
I know this work to be true, i love this book with all my heart.
so i turned the auto pause feature on runkeeper and what do you know, my avg MHP went up by 2!
massive head wind today, still a good ride. and my speed is holding which is a good thing because i thought it was just a fluke for one ride.
so my 30min easy ride turned into a 1h25m ride :/
it was just so nice out that i couldn’t stop riding =] little windy but I’m not complaining.
training log called for 20minute runs this week, so instead of just moping around just to hit the time i figured why not work on running at a faster pace.
so since i deem 20 minutes short and i know what a 7min pace is i say why not just run at a 7min pace for as long as i can. on tuesday i avg a 7:30 pace for 2 miles with mile one split at 7:16 and mile two at 7:44. today was a little slower but a little more hilly but i avg about 7:44-7:55 over 2 miles, mile one was 7:08 but mile 2 was 8:20, guess which mile was up hill.
id like to be able to maintain a 8min pace for all distances and i really think this is helping.
lets see if i can hold < 8min pace for a full 20mins on friday.
so i read up to the drills portion of the total immersion book i have and took the concepts that the book talks about into the water, and it is really helping. im able to swim 100yds consistently now.
i think if i just commit myself to doing the drills in the book ill start swimming longer time periods!
now it’s time for some in and out!
